Forest Ladies set title target

Forest 1st Ladies scored a convincing 8-1 victory in their final fixture, Anna Barratt and Victoria Ringland being undefeated, backed up by a maximum from Loraine Buck and Karen Gleave, to overcome University 1 by 8-1, thereby setting a target for reigning champions Beeston Fields 1 who must win their final match, also against University 1, to retain their title.

In other Ladies matches, Beeston Fields 1 defeated a depleted Rolls Royce by 7-2 in the Premier Division. University 2 overcame Chilwell 1 in Division 1. Beeston Fields 3 winning 6-3 Away at St Giles 2 in Division 2, Susie Brown and Helen Robbins being unbeaten for the visitors and Trent University going down 9-0 against Crusader in Division 3.

Simon Shaw and Rachel Marshall's three rubbers guided Rolls Royce to a 7-2 win over Forest 2 in Premier Mixed, thereby retaining their status for next season but they went down 6-3 Away to Forest 1.
University 2 defeated Mapperley Park 1 in Division 1, two pairs, Lyall Daniels/Ellen Liddle and Matt Lay/Charlotte Ho being unbeaten, which should gain the students second place and promotion. Mapperley Park 1 then bounced back to beat Carlton 1 by 6-3, Craig Day and Nat Wright scoring a maximum.
Bingham 4 edged closer to the 2A title with a 7-2 win at Boots 1, Jack Simpson and Lucy Attewell being unbeaten and Sion Severn and Jane Smith taking their three rubbers.
Six three-setters were needed to settle the 2B encounter between Chilwell 1 and Beeston Fields 3, before Chilwell emerged with a 6-3 win.
In 3B, the top two teams, Beeston Fields 4 and St Giles 2, met in a title deciding fixture, Fields 4 winning 6-3 but were unable to prevent the visitors Colin Leach and Hannah Awcock from taking all St Giles 2's rubbers. St Giles 2 then won 6-3 Away at Beeston Valley 2, Ric Latham and Kathryn Britton taking all Valley's rubbers.
Callum Barry and Gail Blockley's three rubbers guided David Lloyd Aspley to a 7-2 success against Mapperley Park 6 in Division 4A, Mike Higgs and Andrea Oates being undefeated for Forest 4 in their 5-4 loss at Redhill 2 in Division 4B.

Matt Stacey and Ben Wheatley's three rubbers led Mansfield Oaktree to a 6-3 win over Forest 1 in Mens Premier, as Bingham 3 gained their first win in Division 1, Leigh Day and Tom Dainty taking three rubbers in their 5-4 win over University 2.
Boots 1 recorded a 7-2 success against Beeston Valley 1 in 2A, Steve Jordan and Umang Desai taking three rubbers. Mapperley Park 2's 9-0 win over Carlton 2 gives them the title in 2B.
Redhill's 8-1 win against Beeston Valley 3 assures them of runners-up spot in Division 4A, St Giles 3 taking the title by beating Arboretum 2 by 6-3, Jon Olds and Kevin Cuthbert taking three rubbers for the Home team.
Forest 4 take the 4B title with a 6-3 win at Beeston Fields 3, who take the runners-up spot, as Carlton 3 emerge from a marathon seven three-setter against East Leake 2 with a 5-4 (473 points to East Leake's 488), Aidan and Barry Martin taking three rubbers, all in three sets.
