Beeston Fields Make Confident Start

Beeston Fields first mens team have made a confident start to their programme after being relegated from the Premier division last season. An overwhelming 9-0 against their second team was followed by a 7-2 success at Bingham 3, anchored by a maximum from Simon Vanderwalt and Phil Moore, to take an early lead at the top of Division 1.

Also in Division 1 Mapperley Park 2 overcame Beeston Fields 2 by 6-3, three rubbers being gained by Steve Smith and Con Truong, Mapperley Park 3 also gaining a 6-3 win over East Leake 1 in 2B, Matt Haigh and Adam Chesterton being unbeaten. Paul Elliott and Steve Barton were unbeaten in Rushcliffe Arena 1's 7-2 victory against Redhill 2 in 3B, Chris Gregory and Dale Godfrey scoring all Byron 4?s rubbers in a 6-3 loss at Bingham 4 in 4A. Beeston Fields 3 suffered a 9-0 loss in 4B to visitors University Staff, but they bounced back to defeat Adbolton Crows 1 by the same score.

Bingham 1 commenced the defence of their Premier mixed title with two further victories, Nottingham Vets 1 succumbing 9-0 before visiting Byron 1 to take a 6-3 win, stalwarts Matt Tongue and Paula Wilson being undefeated. Forest 2 forge ahead in Division 1 with their second 8 -1 triumph, this time against Bingham 3, a score-line replicated by Forest 1 against Bingham 2 in the Premier Division, and also Forest 3 against Beeston Fields 3 in 2A. Mansfield Oaktree open with a 7-2 win over Mapperley Park 2 in 3A. Park also going down 5-4 at Boots 1 despite Andy Tyas and Natalie Biggs being unbeaten. Boots 2 also won 5-4 at Beeston Valley 2 in 3B, Warwick Mooney and Joanne Roberts taking three for the home side, whilst Virral Shah and Rachel Kenny notched a maximum for David Lloyd Aspley 2 in a 5-4 win over Phoenixwood 4 in 4A, but Rushcliffe Arena 1 were then too strong and overcame David Lloyd Aspley 2 9-0.

Sarah Heathcote and Christine Gleave were unbeaten to guide Bingham 2 to a 5-4 win at Phoenixwood 2 in Ladies Premier. As Hucknall edged a close contest in Division 5, winning 5-4 at Byron 2 despite the home sides Debbie Whitmore and Laura Griffiths being undefeated.
