Crusader charge to the top

After suffering relegation last season, Crusader Ladies team are taking Division 3 by storm, their latest 8-1 victory Away at University 3 giving them a clear lead at the top of the League table and making them favourites for promotion. Not to be outdone the first Mixed, won 7-2 Away at Carlton 2 in 2A, John Fletcher and Wendy Bland being unbeaten, backed up by a maximum from Jon Orchard and Jenny Stark, while the second Mixed edged a close contest against Mapperley Park 6 by 5-4, Rob Richards and Lisa Straw taking three rubbers for the visitors - all in three sets.

Callum Buck and Anna Barratt were undefeated to lead Forest 1 to a 7-2 success against Bingham 1 in the Premier Mixed League.
Tom Kuhn and Lyndsey Davison taking three rubbers - all in three sets - to guide Beeston Fields 2 to a 5-4 win over Forest 3 in Division One.
Also in Division One, Carlton 1 edged a 5-4 verdict against St Giles, thanks to first pair John Tilling and Jess Martin being unbeaten. Carlton 2 going down 6-3 to Mapperley Park 2 in 2A, Matt Haigh and Helen Palmer taking three rubbers for the visitors.

Matt Flint and Kevin Langley were unbeaten for Southwell 1 in Mens Division One, anchoring their team's 7-2 win over University 2, the Students also going down 5-4 at St Giles 1, Graydon Peacock and Alex Mee recording a maximum, then suffering a further loss 6-3 at Home to Beeston Fields 2, whose Simon Vanderwalt and Sam Davis registered three rubbers.
Beeston Fields 2, in their turn, then lost 7-2 at Home to Forest 2, Alan Scott and George Maloney taking three rubbers, Forest 2 then going on to edge a seven three-set marathon against Southwell 1 by 5-4 but were unable to prevent Matt groves and Jack Akehurst taking three rubbers for Southwell 1.
In 2B, Naseeb 2 overcame Southwell 2 by 6-3, Mohammed Ishaq Hussein and Mohammed Shakeel taking their three rubbers. Rolls Royce 3 defeating University 3 by 6-3 in Division 3A, Nigel Cook and Wan Nguon Yeu being unbeaten, backed up by three rubbers from Joe Orchard and Ben Cooper.

In the Ladies League, Beeston Valley 1 scored a 6-3 success Away at Chilwell 2 in Division 2 but were unable to topple the Home side's Jan Johnson and Jacqui Burton who scored all Chilwell's rubbers - all in three sets, as Byron edged a 5-4 verdict against University 3 in Division 3, Jane Tarrant and Julie Gator being unbeaten to anchor the win.
