Bingham Back In Contention

Bingham first ladies hauled themselves back into contention in the Premier division with two victories. After decisively beating their second team 8-1 they travelled to Phoenixwood and edged the match 5-4. Although both sides were somewhat depleted by the absence of several starred players. Bingham's overall strength pulled them through Paula Wilson and Frances Fox taking their three rubbers.

University 1 gained two wins in Div 1, Natalie Howes and Ruth Wear registering a maximum in their 5-4 win at Mapperley Park 1, and followed up by beating East Leake 1 8-1 to take second place in the table.

In Division 4 Lisa Crouch and Sue Allen?s three rubbers guided Kimberley to a 6-3 win at University 2, whilst Alison Wellings and Jane Bayliss were unbeaten in Southwell Centres 6-3 success against Beeston Fields 3, Julia Mills and Annabelle Hutchings also taking three rubbers.

University 1 confirm their second place in Div 1 Mixed by beating Byron 2 6-3, whilst the students second team move into second place in 2B with a 5-4 win at Beeston Fields 4, despite the home sides Dave Sanders and Anita Freer notching a maximum.

Phil Johnson and Eileen Clarke were undefeated to lead Nottingham Vets 3 to a 6-3 victory over Carlton 2 in 4B. Alex Henton and Anne Hallam's maximum anchoring Kimberley 3's 7-2 success against East Leake 4 in 6A.

Phoenixwood 1 opened their Mens programme with a 6-3 win against University, Dan Brown and Lee Byrne being unbeaten in taking all the students rubbers, but bounced back to defeat Bingham 3 6-3.

Martin Rimmer and Mitch Holton were undefeated in David Lloyd West Bridgford 7-2 win at Carlton 3 in 3A, but then went down by 6-3 to visitors Mansfield Oaktree whose Craig Favill and Mark Buttery were unbeaten. In the same division Southwell Centre 1 edged a close contest of five three setters by 5-4 at University 3, the home sides Neil Harris and Shaun Dolay recording a maximum, Southwell then losing at home by 5-4 to Naseeb 1, whose Sohail Aziz and Mazar Khan were undefeated.

In 4a, Adam Feather and Laurence Higgins were unbeaten to guide University 4 to a 5-4 win over East Leake 2, as were Chris Martin and Graeme Leanaardt for Phoenixwood 3 in their 5-4 win at Woodborough in 5A, and Kevin Brown and James Rogers for St Giles 3 in defeating Arboretum 3 7-2 also in 5B.
