55s achieve winning draw in close contest

On Sunday 17th March Notts. Masters 40s team travelled to Derbyshire while the 55s entertained Shropshire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia.

Notts. 55s team, having won three Mens and one Ladies rubber, resulted in both teams locked at 4-4. Both teams requiring three out of the remaining four Mixed rubbers to win the match outright. Notts. lost 1st Mixed, won 2nd and 4th, the score 6-5 to Notts.
Last match on court was 3rd Mixed, who fought hard but could not achieve the required outright win, losing their rubber in three sets.
The final score was a winning 6-6 draw to Notts. on count back, 14-13 games.
Mark Attewell playing with partners Julian Dumelow and Julie Peart was unbeaten in the match.
The 55s play their final match of the season away to League leaders Cheshire on 24th March.

The 40s, up against unbeaten League leaders Derbyshire, sustained a heavy 12-0 loss.
The team have now completed all their Midlands East League matches and finish with a commendable 2nd position in their division.
