Bingham BC retain KO Cup

In a repeat of last yearís final Bingham retained the KO cup with victory over Arboretum.

However, following adjustments to the handicap system for this yearís competition, this yearís final was a lot closer.

The opening 2 mixed doubles were shared, and then Bingham won the ladies doubles and Arboretum winning both the opening menís doubles leaving them 3-2 up at the halfway point.

The cross over menís doubles were shared, meaning that Bingham needed to win both mixed doubles to win the cup.

In the first Martin Edwards and Beth Howard won the first game but found themselves 19-0 down in the second, but they then served 21 consecutive points to win the match and make the score 4 -4.

In the final match George Brook and Paula Baker won in two tight games leaving the result as a 5-4 win to Bingham.

Congratulations to both teams for a very close and exciting match.

This seasonís competition attracted 15 teams, and it would be great to see more next season.

Entry form will be available at the AGM and fixture meeting in September.
