Gold at 4 Nations Disability Badminton Championships

England and Nottinghamshires Owen Kilburn & Paula RobinsonAlmost 90 athletes in 4 different classifications came together over two days at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff and delivered a quite outstanding display of Disability Badminton. With over 180 matches played on day 1, all 8 courts were fully occupied from 9am to 6pm and, at every moment, players were competing in Wheelchair, Standing, Learning Disability and Dwarf categories.

The 4 Nations (Welsh leg) Championship was in its second year and entries had tripled, proving quite comprehensively that Disability Badminton is definitely on the up. Many of the players had taken part in competition before, however there were many who were taking their first foray into competitive sport and for them it was essential that the event provided a quality learning and enjoyable experience.

The Nottinghamshire Wheelchair Badminton sent 3 players to represent their club for England, Paula Robinson, 16 year old Owen Kilburn, and 14 year old Jack Pegram this was their first ever entry into this Championships.

Special congratulation goes to Paula Robinson from the club who was awarded a Gold Medal in the Ladies Doubles and a Silver Medal in the Ladies Singles for England.
