Megan and Lucy Brierley are continuing to enjoy success on the National and International Junior Badminton Circuit.
Megan and Lucy Brierley from Wollaton, Nottinghamshire have been entering Badminton England tournaments for the last 4 years climbing the rankings for their age groups and are now both competing at the top tier gold tournaments for their age groups.
The Brierleys would like to thank Nottinghamshire Badminton Association for their continued support.
Below are a list of their recent achievements.
Lucy Brierley
During the 2018-2019 season, Lucy won treble gold at the Sheffield U13 gold (gold in gold star singles, doubles and mixed). She followed this up at the Milton Keynes U13 gold with a gold in mixed doubles, silver in gold star singles and bronze in doubles. At the next U13 gold in Redbridge, Lucy won gold in gold star singles, silver in doubles and silver in mixed doubles. At the final U13 gold of the season in Cheltenham, Lucy won gold in gold star singles. Lucy also played an age group up and won 2 bronze medals in Gold star singles and 3 bronze medals in doubles.
At the U13 nationals in May 2019, Lucy won gold in mixed doubles, silver in singles and silver in doubles. At the u15 nationals in April 2019, Lucy won bronze in the doubles.
Lucy has had the opportunity to enter several international tournaments and has had staggering success. At the U13 Finnish Youth Games, she won gold in doubles and mixed and silver in singles. At the U13 Carlton International Youth Tournament in Holland, Lucy won bronze in doubles. At the Olve International Youth tournament, Lucy won gold in singles and mixed doubles along with bronze in doubles. At the U13 Glasgow International Youth Games, Lucy won gold in doubles and mixed doubles along with bronze in singles. Playing an age group up in the U15 Bulgarian International, Lucy won gold in doubles.
Lucy has started the season well at the U15 Gold at Nottingham Trent University. She won gold in the gold star singles and gold in the doubles. She followed this up with bronze at the U17 Gold at Leigh in doubles.
Megan Brierley
In May 2018, Megan won the U15 National doubles title. As a result of this, she was invited on to the England Junior performance pathway and has been selected to travel with the England coaches at several international tournaments. Megan was also selected to represent England at the U15 quadrangular held in Cardiff in May 2018. Megan helped England to victory in the team event, came 2nd in the Mixed doubles individual event and won bronze in the singles event.
In December 2018, Megan won the doubles title at the U15 Carlton International Youth Tournament in Holland. Megan also came 2nd in the singles event and bronze in mixed doubles.
Also in December 2018, Megan won bronze in mixed doubles at the Estonia U15 International.
Since the beginning of this year, 2019, Megan has medalled at all the 4 U17 golds. She has won 1 gold medal and 1 bronze medal in mixed doubles, 1 silver medal and 2 bronze medals in girls doubles and 1 gold medal in singles.
