Nail biting finish for Nott’s 40s Team

Nott’s 40s team travelled to play Oxfordshire on Sunday 12th December, while the 60s team entertained a depleted Shropshire 1st team on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia.

The 40s match proved to be a nail biting finish, with each team winning two Men’s and two Ladies rubbers – scores then level at 4-4, both teams needing to win three of the four remaining Mixed rubbers to win the match. Again, the four rubbers were halved, resulting in a 6-6 draw. On count back, Nott’s won the match by 15 games to Oxfordshire’s 14 and 542-518 points.
The team next play their return match against Warwickshire on February 13th at Chilwell Olympia.

Shropshire 1st team arrive with unfortunately one lady short and therefore had to concede three rubbers to Nott’s 60s team before the start of the match. Nott’s won two Men’s, four Ladies and all four Mixed rubbers resulting in a 10-2 win.
