Masters 40s and 65s Teams defeated

Two Masters Teams entertained Worcestershire and Staffordshire over the weekend at Chilwell Olympia.

Nott’s 65s team playing the return match against League leaders Worcestershire 1st on Saturday, having previously lost 2-7 away, were again unable to overcome the all-round strength of the opposition, losing the match again by 2-7.
The team were without regular player Phil Johnson, consequently Steve Jordan was able to make his debut for the team.
Jacqui Burton with Ladies partner’s Eileen Clarke and Lynn Davison won the two Nott’s rubbers.
The 65s final League match of the season will take place on March 20th when they play the return match against Staffordshire at Chilwell Olympia having previously beaten Staff’s by 6-3.

The 40s team on Sunday, were up against League leaders Staffordshire. Both teams playing their final League matches in the Midlands West division and both in contention to progress to compete in the League Play Offs against Cambridgeshire, winners of the Midlands East division.
Staffordshire before the match were two points in front of Nott’s, therefore the Nott’s team required an outright win to gain three maximum points to overtake Staffs.
The Nott’s team fought hard but were unable to gain the desired victory. The strength of Staff’s Ladies proved to be the deciding factor by winning all four Ladies rubbers.
Nott’s winning two Men’s and two Mixed rubbers resulting in an 8-4 win to Staffordshire.
Nott’s finishing their season in 2nd position in the Midlands West League.
