Remembering Ash Mir - Club news from Crusader Badminton Club

Remembering Ash.

On Friday 11th November 2022, Crusader Badminton Club proudly arranged the inaugural Ash Mir Trophy competition in celebration of their much loved member Ash Mir, who tragically died of Covid in January 2021.

Ash Mir was a well known badminton player in Notts who had played for numerous league clubs over 20 years including Boots, Bingham and Crusader.

It was a brilliant tournament and a fitting tribute to Ash. At the end of the evening we had 2 worthy winners, Natalie Woolsey Butler and Dan Howard.

Had Ash still been there he would have given his all to win this annual tournament. He was as competitive as he was a wonderful friend and a greatly missed team mate.

His family wrote to us after the event:
‘We as a family really appreciate your thought and effort. We miss him loads. Ash was a big part of out lives. Thank you so much for remembering him and honouring him. We are humbled by your rememberance and the knowledge that he impacted on your lives like he did on ours is a blessing. Thank you so much for the update and photos. Stay in touch.’

We are already looking forward to next year's tournament. A promise of great badminton and a heartfelt celebration of Ash.
