Notts Masters over 40s and 55s teams entertained Yorkshire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia on Sunday 29th January.
The 40s team, for the first time ever are now playing in the North division this season. Having lost their first match against favourites Lancashire, today they played their second match of the season against Yorkshire. It was a tough match for both teams.
Notts Men won three rubbers and unlucky not to take all four when Mat Haigh and Sion Severn lost 20-22, 21-16 21-23 to Yorkshire’s 1st Men’s pair.
Lee Truong and Laura Birkenshaw won both their ladies.
The score before the start of the Mixed was 5-3, Notts needing to win two of the four remaining Mixed rubbers to win the match outright.
After some excellent play, the Notts side won all four Mixed resulting in a 9-3 win. Well done team.
All players contributed to the score. Andy Shaw, Alan Scott, Lee Truong and Laura Birkinshaw were all unbeaten in the match.
The team next play the return match against top of the League Lancashire on 3rd February.
Notts 55s team now this season back again in the North division after three years playing in the Midlands, played their third match of the season also against Yorkshire.
The team won two Mens, three Ladies and all four Mixed rubbers, resulting in a comfortable 9-3 win and top the division having won all their matches so far.
Again, in this match all Notts players contributed to the score. Adam Buck, Adrian Mateo, Loraine Buck and Karen Gleave were all unbeaten in the match.
Lancashire are looking as though they are Notts 55s main rivals. All will become a little clearer when the team next play Lancashire at home on Saturday 11th February.
