12th March 2023

Not the best of days for both the Masters 40s & 45s Teams

Notts 40s and 45s teams travelled to play Cheshire and Derbyshire respectively on Sunday 12th March.
The 40s were unable to improve on their 6-6 losing draw when the team entertained Cheshire on their home courts last Sunday. Cheshire’s team was completely different apart from one lady, also stronger this time around. Four rubbers went to three close ends and could have gone either way in the match. However, Cheshire won the match 11-1.
Laura Birkinshaw and Andy Shaw winning Notts only rubber.
The 40s play their final match of the season away against Yorkshire, who they beat 9-3 in their previous encounter on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia.

The 45s found themselves playing a depleted Derbyshire team. Derbyshire were short of two ladies, therefore had to concede four matches before the start of play.
Notts top mens pair Graydon Peacock and Simon Vanderwalt, were awarded a win when their opponents conceded in the third end of their match.
Alison O’Neil and Julie Bigwood were unlucky not to win their ladies in two straight sets – losing 22-20, 20-22, 21-8.
The overall strength of the remaining Derbyshire players proved to be too strong for the Notts side, winning the match 7-5.
The team next play the return match against Derbyshire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia on March 26th.
