65’s beat League leaders Worcestershire 1st team

Nott’s Masters 45s and 65s teams entertained Derbyshire and Worcestershire 1st on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia on Sunday 26th March.

The 45s playing their last match of the season against old rivals Derbyshire were unable to overcome their opponent’s all round team strength, losing the match 12-0.
Julie Bigwood with partners Paula Wilson at 1st Ladies and Darren Bridge at 3rd Mixed, took all her rubbers to three close sets, a great effort overall.
The team finish their season in 3rd place in the Midlands division.

The 65s were again without their top man Ian Price due to an ongoing injury, when they played their final match of the season against their main rivals league leaders Worcestershire 1st team. Worcester were also under strength without two of their regular players.
Nott’s got off to a great start when our 1st Men’s pair Mike Nettleton and Phil Johnson won their match in three close sets.
Our Ladies, who have not lost any of their matches this season continued to dominate, winning their three matches. The match result then standing at 4-2 to Nott’s, with one win required from the final three Mixed rubbers for Nott’s to clinch the match for the first time against League leaders Worcestershire.
1st Mixed pair, Jacqui Burton and Mike Nettleton won their match in two straight sets to clinch the match 5-4.
The team finish their season in 3rd place in the Midlands division.
