Two Nott’s Masters Team’s played on Sunday 17th December. The 50s travelled to play their main rivals Cambridgeshire, while Nott’s 60s entertained Lancashire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia.
The 50s were struggling to field a team for this Sunday due to recent injuries, illness and unavailability. Fortunately, Julian Dumelow and Loraine Buck were able to save the day.
The team won two Men’s, two Ladies and three Mixed rubbers resulting in a 7-5 win.
Carl Jennings and Julian Dumelow were both unbeaten in the match playing together in the Men’s, Carl with Mixed partner Julie Gater, Julian with Mixed partner Loraine Buck.
Paula Wilson was also unbeaten, playing with Ladies partner Loraine and Mixed partner Dave Barratt.
The 50s have won all their three matches so far this season and are looking good to qualify again to play in the League finals over the weekend of 20/21st April.
The team next play the return match against Cambridgeshire on their home courts at Chilwell on February 4th.
It was a tough match for the 60s, the team winning just two Men’s in total. Score 10-2 to Lancashire. However, Lancashire didn’t have it all their own way. Although it appears to be a heavy loss, five out of the twelve rubbers went to the best of three ends, Nott’s winning one. Points 590 to Lancashire, 467 to Nott’s.
The team next play League leaders Yorkshire on 7th January on their Home courts a Chilwell Olympia.
