60s team - So near yet so far

Nott’s 60s team entertained Cheshire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia on Sunday 11th February. Their previous encounter on Cheshire’s courts was a close 7-5 result to Cheshire.
Today, Nott’s almost turned the result around in their favour.
After the Men’s and Ladies doubles, the score was level at 4-4. Nott’s winning three Men’s and one Ladies rubber, leaving each team to win three out of the four remaining Mixed doubles to win the match outright.
1st Mixed pair Julie Peart and Adrian Mateo won their rubber convincingly. 2nd and 3rd Nott’s Mixed pairs battled hard to no avail, which left 4th Mixed pair Dave Hall and Wendy Walton-Towle to win their rubber to draw the match, which they did.
The final score was a winning draw to Cheshire on games won – Grand totals, Notts. 444 points to Cheshire’s 437 points, Notts. 12 games to Cheshire’s 13 games.
Notts. side gained one point for a losing 6-6 draw.
Adrian Mateo was unbeaten in the match, playing with partners Anthony O’Leary and Julie Peart.

The team’s next match is Away against League favourites Yorkshire on 25th February.
