Nott’s 55s and 65s teams both travelled to play their final League matches of the season.
The 55s against top of the league leaders Lancashire. While the 65s playing against their main rivals Worcestershire 1st team – both teams unbeaten in the League, with the winning team to go forward to play in the League Finals.
Nott’s 55s were unable to overcome the all-round strength of the home side. The final score 9-3 to Lancashire.
Notable performances were from Mark Attewell and Jerry Deacon who won one Mens doubles in two straight sets.
Karen Gleave and Loraine Buck won both of their Ladies rubbers also in two straight sets.
Karen and Loraine have not lost a Ladies match all season in the North League – quite an achievement.
Notts. 65’s knew it was going to be a hard battle against Worcestershire 1st team. Unfortunately, Worcestershire’s Janet Walker, who recently turned 65 years, made her debut against Nott’s today. Previously playing in Worcestershire’s 60s team where she had won 45 matches and lost only one. She certainly strengthen Worcestershire’s team.
However, our team made their opponents work hard, they didn't have it all their own way – there were some very close matches. The final score of 8-1 to Worcestershire did not reflect the close matches.
Nott’s Ladies pair Eileen Clarke and Gill Maloney won the Nott’s rubber.
