Notts 40s team entertain Lincolnshire in Friendly match

Notts 40s team hosted a friendly match at Mapperley on Saturday 1st June. The idea of a friendly was discussed between the teams at the Challenge weekend in January, with the Lincolnshire team keen on also having a night out in Nottingham.

Despite it being a ‘friendly’ it was a close competitive match, with both sides wanting to win. The Notts team won two Men’s, three Ladies and two Mixed rubbers, resulting in a 7-5 win for Notts.

Andy Shaw and Laura Birkinshaw were unbeaten in the match, playing together in the Mixed. Andy playing with Alan Scott in the Men’s, and Laura playing with Lee Truong in the Ladies.

With the match complete the teams later met up in Nottingham for a fun night involving lots of badminton talk, food, drinks, and some dancing. It was a great day/ night with discussions of repeating in the future.
