Nottinghamshire Junior Badminton Team bring home Silver in U12/13 County League

Nottinghamshire’s youngest county team showcased their skills and dedication by achieving a fantastic and well deserved 2nd place silver win in the shires league 2023 – 2024 season. This is a massive achievement for players, coaches and volunteers who were all part of this result.

Throughout the season, no other county came close, with Notts having significant wins against
Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Oxfordshire, and Yorkshire.

In the finals, the team convincingly beat Surrey 14-6 and then worked super hard to beat a strong Leicestershire line up 11-9. The final match was an enjoyable match against Kent. Some very close games with Kent edging the win 13-7. Congratulations Kent but watch out next season!

The players who share this team success are :

Hailey Ng, Michelle Chen, Sophia Chen, Beau Dobb, Shri Agarwal, Moon Chan, Ella Sebestova, Tommy Wing-Chun Yuen, Kai Yare, Nishiv Renick, Arthur Liu, San Hang Hank Lam, Kumanan Kavin Makizhan.

All matches were played in great spirit with the prime objective to have fun within our fantastic sport. The medal is great bonus for all players, so well deserved and shows that our Junior entry level county badminton is strong and has great potential to achieve future success.

A big thanks to our coaching Team: Matt Stacey, Andy Cokayne, Karen Peatfield, Mark Attewell, Dave Lindley and Pete Herrity, along with many others who helped this set of players throughout the year.

Both Senior Club players and Junior Clubs have also contributed to the development and support of our players’ journey in competitive Badminton. This makes such a big difference, thank you!
