4th November 2024

40s, so near yet so far

Nott’s Masters 40s and 50s teams both travelled to play Staffordshire and Lincolnshire respectively on Sunday 3rd November.
The 40s having a comfortable win against Warwickshire last Sunday were up against last season’s League Champions Staffordshire.
It was a hard battle but Staffordshire didn’t have it all their own way. Nott’s men won three Men’s rubbers in two straight sets. While the Nott’s ladies were unable to beat Staffordshire 1st pair but were so close to taking both rubbers against Staffs 2nd pair. Abby Hunter and Kathryn Britton won 21-23, 29-27, 19-21. Louise Bolam and Michelle Jackson were unlucky; they lost 20-22, 22-20, 22-20.
The remaining four Mixed rubbers were shared, two rubbers each. Result, rubbers 6-6 all, games 14-14 all. Staffordshire wining on points 560-502. Therefore Staffordshire winning 2 points for a winning draw, Nott’s 1 point for a losing draw. Great effort by all Nott’s players.
The 40s next play Leicestershire on January 26th at Chilwell Olympia.

Nott’s 50s team, also last season’s League Champions, opened their season with a convincing 12-0 win against Lincolnshire. Their next match is Away against Cambridgeshire on Sunday November 24th.
