Mixed fortunes on todays Masters Match results

Nott’s 55s and 65s teams both travelled to play Worcestershire and Leicestershire respectively on Sunday 16th February.
Nott’s 55s team, having beaten their main rivals Worcestershire at Home in November, score 9-3, were unable to win the return match today.
Worcestershire won all four men’s rubbers. While Nott’s ladies dominated their four rubbers, requiring both teams to win three of the four remaining Mixed rubbers to win the match outright.
Unfortunately, top Mixed pair Loraine Buck and Martyn Norman had to concede their match when Martyn pulled something around his Achilles area and couldn’t continue.
2nd Mixed pair Karen Gleave and Alan Bowmer won their match. Score still level 5-5. Unfortunately, Worcestershire won both 3rd and 4th Mixed. Final score 7-5 to Worcestershire.
Nott’s 55s are still favourites to win the League as they have more points than Worcestershire.
The 55s team next play their final League match against Buckinghamshire on March 16th at Chilwell Olympia.

Nott’s 65s team were up against a strong Leicestershire side; however, Nott’s showed their dominance when winning two Men’s, all three Ladies and two Mixed rubbers, resulting in a 7-2 win. The team play their final League match against bottom of the League Shropshire on March 2nd at Chilwell Olympia. All being well, the 65s will then progress to play in the Masters County Championship Finals at Birmingham University over the weekend of April 26/27th.
