Notts Four In England Squad

World champion Nathan Robertson, from Cotgrave, and partner Gail Emms, will spearhead England's bid for glory when they start the defence of their title in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

England's head coach Ian Wright has confirmed the names of the players who have qualified for this year's World Championships from August 13-19 - and it includes all five finalists from Madrid last September.

Robertson and Emms won the mixed-doubles title with fellow Notts star Anthony Clark and Derbyshire's Donna Kellogg taking the silver medal.

Clark then appeared in his second final when he and Robert Blair won the silver medal in the men's doubles.

But Wright is under no illusion how difficult it will be to match that success.

He said: "We have a strong squad heading for Kuala Lumpur and they all know they are going to have to work harder than ever to match the performances and achievements England enjoyed in Madrid."

As well as the experienced members of the doubles squad, England also have Commonwealth champion Tracey Hallam getting back to her best following ankle surgery straight after Madrid. But she is now finding her form and has returned to the world's top 20.

Hallam is joined in the women's singles by Jill Pittard. In the men's singles, world No.22 Andrew Smith and double English National champion Nick Kidd will be bidding to make an impact.

And there is further Notts representation in the squad with David Lindley selected in the men's and mixed doubles, and Robert Adcock in the men's doubles.
