Notts Veterans Come Close

Last weekend the O/65's played in the League Finals at Hatfield. Only three weeks ago they won the I.C.C. Finals and were hoping to complete the double as they did last year.

On the Saturday they had the harder of the semi finals, beating a good Surrey side 6-3, winning 3 Ladies, 1 Mens and 2 Mixed, whilst Cumbria were defeating Wiltshire, the weakest of the four, by 8-1.

The following day they played the final against Cumbria without the services of our No.1 Man, Colin Abbott, due to the temporary deterioration in his eye sight following a recent injury, which meant we were at a considerable disadvantage but rearranged the team with 2 replacements in his place.

We eventually lost a hard fought match 5-4, winning 2 ladies, 1 Mens and 1 Mixed. Without Colin a definite MORAL VICTORY, but regrettably this did not bring home again the Kay Brindle Trophy.

The players on Saturday were:
Colin Abbott, Stewart Robey, Bill Houghton, Barbara Henley, Joan Morley & Pam Wallace.

For the final on the Sunday:
Stewart Robey, Bill Houghton, Peter Morley, Keith Wallace, Barbara Henley, Joan Morley & Pam Wallace.
