Masters 50s team continue their winning ways

Three Masters Team’s played on Sunday 25th February. Nott’s 40s entertained Staffordshire, while the 50s team entertained Lincolnshire on their home courts at Chilwell Olympia.
The 60s team travelled to play Yorkshire.

Our 40s team were up against league leaders Staffordshire who are unbeaten and favourites to win the Midlands West division. Nott’s battled hard but couldn’t overcome the all-round strength of their opposition. Losing the match 2-10.
Notable performances were from Laura Birkinshaw and Abby Hunter who won one Ladies doubles, also debutant Chris Parrott, with partner Louise Bolam won their match in the Mixed category. Chris with men’s partner Steve Farey were unlucky not to take one of their men’s matches losing 19-21 in the third end.
The 40s next play their final match of the season on March 7th, away against Warwickshire.

Nott’s 50s playing against Lincolnshire, won all four Men’s, three Ladies and three Mixed rubbers resulting in a convincing 10-2 win to the home team.
The 50s complete their Midland East fixtures when they travel to Suffolk on 17th March. Win or lose, the team will move forward to play in a Midlands East v Midlands West Play Off, the winner to go forward to play in the League Finals at Birmingham over the weekend of April 20/21st.

Nott’s 60s travelled to play top of the North League leaders Yorkshire. Yorkshire won the match 10-2; however, they didn’t have it all their own way. There were many close rubbers but Yorkshire’s overall strength was the deciding factor.
Notable performances were from Lesley Griffin and Julie Peart winning one Ladies. Mark Attewell and Anthony O’Leary winning one Men’s. Also Wendy Walton-Towle and Wendy Bland losing one Ladies rubber in the third end.
The team’s last match of the season is Away against Lancashire on March 17th.
